CHUCKS make an outfit better.

I had a day of errand running and thought what better to wear than a maxi skirt with some Chucks?

It’s just as easy to throw on a pair of yoga pants as it is a maxi skirt! Plus this bag looks great with everything. Thank you Target! Have a wonderful Monday!

PS- If anyone is near a Sprinkles Cupcakes tomorrow you should stop by and purchase a Pink Ribbon Strawberry Cupcake, all proceeds go to Entertainment Industry’s Foundation Women’s Cancer Research Fund!

The Necklace Trick That Instantly Makes You Look Chic.

One of the trends that I have been seeing in a lot of the magazines and draped around celebrities necks are stacked statement necklaces. This necklace trick will instantly amp up any outfit to It-Girl status and is so simple to master! I took 6 different necklaces that were just hanging in my bedroom and combined them for an effortlessly styled look.

Each combination has it’s own different style and each is easy to replicate. Stacked statement necklaces are definitely a fall trend but I think they are here to stay! Here’s to a week of layered necklaces, fall weather, and great friends! Much Love, Jenny!

I Tried To Come Up With An Avocado Pun. This Was All I Could Come Up With.

I love eating. I also love cooking. As a gluten and dairy free vegetarian though I sometimes have little to work with and end up eating the same thing week after week. On the hunt for something delicious, healthy, and in my eating range I turned to Pintrest and saw a recipe for a creamy avocado pasta.  Um HELLO, I love avocado, I love pasta, I felt this would work out! I added my own twist to it like I always do and it turned out absolutely delicious. Find the original recipe { here. }

My tweaked recipe:

Ingredients:

1 medium sized ripe Avocado

1/2 lemon, juiced

2-3 garlic cloves

1/2 tsp kosher salt, or to taste

1/4 cup Fresh Basil, (optional) {I actually used about a tsp of dried basil and it turned out just fine}

2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

2 servings/6 oz of your choice of pasta

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Red onion

Can of whole peeled tomatoes {Don’t drain the liquid out of the can right away since you need to add some of it to the avocado sauce}

Fresh Spinach

Baby Bella Mushrooms

Blender or Food Processor {Recipe calls for F.P. but I don’t have one of those so I used the puree button on my blender and it worked just as well!}

Directions:

1. Boil your noodles according to the package, I always choose Brown Rice Noodles but any will work.

2. Squeeze lemon juice into the blender, add garlic cloves, and olive oil, blend until smooth.

3. Add pitted avocado plus the basil and salt to the mixture, blend until smooth.

3. Chop the mushrooms and red onion, add to a pan and saute until brown.

4. De-Stem the spinach and saute until dark green.

5. Drain the pasta and add in about 1/4 of the tomato juices from the can, pour sauce over noodles and stir with the stove on low heat.

6. Add in the other veggies and any extra spices that strike your fancy. {I used Chicago Steak Seasoning and Northwoods Fire, both from Penzey’s Spices.}

7. At this point you can add in a protein if you would like, I might add in my Beyond Meat Chicken free strips just for fun!

Crazy Color Combo That Actually Works.

IMG_9418

{Top-Nordstrom Rack, Jeans- Target, Heels- Target}

I am definitely one for mixing it up. Colors, patterns, textures, you name it and I have mixed it. The way you dress is the way you present yourself to the world and I think why not have fun with it? Putting two colors or two textures together that you would never think would work and for some reason it does, well that my friends is style. I myself am a slave to the fashion magazine, have spent all of NYFW looking at blogs, Instagram, and the Mercedes Benz website for live feed. I can’t help but realize though that what inspires me a lot more than the runway is street style. What are the girls wearing on the street right now? As they jump in their cars to go to work, running down Michigan to catch a cab, or just going for a cocktail with their friends. That is what fashion means to me, taking everyday life and making it beautiful with clothing. Now don’t get me wrong, I am planning on attending Fashion Week one of the years, {I am hoping next year SOMEONE SEND ME} and then I can be immersed in the style of those people. While a lot of the fashions are  un-attainable for quote on quote normal people there is something we can take from every single one f them. I have a couple favorite bloggers whose style is chic and attainable. They also seem very down to Earth and passionate about the same things I am. Making the world a more beautiful place.  Here are the links to their blogs;  http://www.katalinagirl.com and http://www.thebrunetteone.com  {Both live in Iowa so they have that Midwest style going on which is important to me since I live in the Midwest and plan on staying here!} So back to my outfit, {now that I have rambled on} the combo of orange brown+lavender+nude would never really cross my mind as working. But it did, and it turned out to be one of my favorite outfits this week! Also because I am a girl on a budget I have to share that I snagged those jeans for just under $9 and the heels for the same! Oh how I love clearance racks! Also please bear in mind the struggles some people are facing today, mostly the people who lost loved ones in the attacks. Every time you think of them send out a little prayer to maker their heart less heavy. Hopefully they can feel the love of our country trying to lift them up!

Here’s to week filled with love and polka dots! Much Love from me, Jenny!

NYFW: Inspiration Board For Fall.

New York Fashion Week is upon us and I am beyond excited! The clothes, the style, the hair, the backstage looks on blogs. Plus, I have a client that goes every year {she is a beauty buyer for a major store} so I’m anxious to see her at our next appointment to get all the scoop! Fall always begins a new chapter in our closets {and fashion week starts it out right}, where you have to almost re-invent your style just to stay warm. Fall makes living in the Midwest worth it, because for those months and months of high heat and then freezing temps we can cling to the “remember fall?” and it will make {at least me} smile. {Or you can grab a pumpkin spice latte to remember the good times as well.} In honor of this beautiful season {And Fashion Week} I have made an inspiration board; it’s all the clothes, hairstyle, and just people that will inspire the looks this fall {for me and my clients}.When I was younger I had a manilla folder that was labeled “Outfits and Hair” and was filled to the brim with rip-outs from magazines, pictures I had drawn, and etc. Now we have Pintrest for that, but I like to combine them all still into one image to help keep my head in the game.  More than likely I will need to make a couple boards after Fashion Week, seeing as that there will be millions of amazing outfits gracing my computer screen and I’m sure my brain will be in overload. Try making your own Inspiration Board to help you figure out your personal style, what image you want to project to the world, and possibly just something pretty to look at!

So enjoy NYFW from wherever you are, be it a small town in the Midwest like me or from the rows behind a runway! Much Love- Jenny

You can’t see my feet in these shoes.

Camo. Usually saved for the hunters and rednecks of America, but now is on fashionistas radar. I myself have never been too big of a fan of the pattern since I grew up in a hunters house but lately I’ve been seeing it on accessories and I am ok with that. In small doses I think camo can look very chic, and I’m not the only one who thinks so! Fashion magazines everywhere are toting camo as one of the top fall 2013 trends. Needless to say I brought these flats out last night to meet my friend K for drinks and I’ll be pairing them with a lot this season. IMG_9302{Flats-Target. Like always I scored them on sale, paid under $5 for them!}

Even if you are skittish of this trend try it out in a simple way, add it in a bracelet or a belt. That way you don’t end up looking like a hunter about to put up his deer stand. I paired these with a long mint green blazer and a gray tee, but I definitely will be mixing patterns with these. I am thinking a cute striped sweater would look on par with these for sure! Happy trending! Much Love- Jenny
